

Audilia “Lela” A. Olivarez, 84, passed away on March 18, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Lela was born on January 19, 1927 to Jesus and Angelita L. Alvarado in Kingsville, Texas. She was a Foster Parent from 1990 to 2006. Lela loved her family, cooking for the holidays, and working in her garden. She also loved shopping, jewelry and eating. She was known for her holiday celebrations especially at Easter for making her colorful cascaroñes and at Halloween she loved decorating her table. At Christmas she loved baking her delicious Christmas cookies that she would pass out to her family and friends around town. Her home and especially her kitchen was always open to anyone at anytime.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Isabel Sanchez; brothers, Jesus Jr., Oscar, Roberto, and Rolando.
Lela leaves behind to cherish her memories her loving husband of 58 years, Reymundo Olivarez, Sr. of Ricardo, Texas; her sons, Rey Olivarez, Jr. (Norma), Rene Olivarez (Ophelia), Rene Lozano, all from Kingsville, Texas, San Marcos Lozano (Deborah) of San Antonio, Texas, and Ismael Lozano of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughter, Ruthie Ludin Valdez (Tommy) of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren, Rene Ray Olivarez, Rosalinda “Isai” O. Conchas, Gabriel Anthony Olivarez, Roxsanna Olivarez, Regina Olivarez, Sarah Olivarez and Tanya Barcenas; great-grandchild, Lilliana “Lilly” Conchas. Also surviving her are her brother, Joel Alvarado of Houston, Texas and sister, Dee Alvarado of Kingsville, Texas.
Public visitation will from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Turcotte-Piper Funeral Home with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 pm that evening. The Funeral Service will be at 9:30 am on Monday, March 21, 2011 at Turcotte-Piper Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
