

Gene A. Yaklin, age 83, a resident of Riviera, Texas passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born February 25, 1929 in Kingsville, Texas to Neil Yaklin and Hilda Forstoff Yaklin. Mr. Yaklin was employed as a farmer/rancher in the Vattmann area until his retirement. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, LaVerne Yaklin of Riviera; one son, Glenn Yaklin of Riviera; four daughters, Debbie Cumberland (John) of Ricardo, Texas, Linda Bowmer (Tommy) of Corpus Christi, Colleen Miller and Tina Yaklin, both of Riviera; seven brothers, Phil Yaklin (Mary Ann), Gerald Yaklin (Nook) and Dale Yaklin, all of Riviera, Louis Yaklin (Chinna) of Brazoria, Texas, Leonard Yaklin (Jean) of Donie,Texas, Woody Yaklin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Ken Yaklin (Trish) of Morrisville, Texas; one sister, Anna Marie Grossman (Jim) of Falfurrias, Texas; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place after 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited by Fr. Peter Antony at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2012 at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, Vattmann, Texas with Msgr. James Harris as celebrant. Burial will follow in Vattmann at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Cemetery.
