

Manuel A. Gonzalez, age 83, a resident of Bishop, Texas passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on July 29, 1926 in Bishop to Eulalaio and Guadalupe Alvarez Gonzalez. Mr. Gonzalez was employed with Civil Service at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station until his retirement in 1986. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Gonzalez was also a member of St. James Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death in 1980 by his beloved wife, Claudina DeLaVina Gonzalez.
Mr. Gonzalez is survived by five daughters, Diana (Arnulfo) Guajardo and Gloria Gonzalez, both of Bishop, Dalia (Roel) Revilla of Denver, Colorado, Esther (Hector) Guajardo of Lake Station, Indiana, and Esmeralda (Arnulfo) Gonzalez of Odessa, Texas two sons, Manuel “Mangue” Gonzalez, Jr. and Rudy (Judy) Gonzalez, both of Bishop; brother, Alejandro Gonzalez of Bishop; sister, Maria Solis of Bishop; 25 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Anselma Martinez of Bishop.
Visitation will take place after 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel, Kingsville, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010 at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Richard Koziol as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Military Funeral Detail.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
