Darren was born in Chilliwack, BC., on July 1, 1972 (his Dad's 25th birthday). In 1980, the family moved to Lumby, BC., and Darren spent his youth growing up on the ranch, playing minor hockey and graduated from the Charles Bloom Secondary. The past 20 years saw him living and working in many towns throughout BC and Alberta, most recently in Fort MacMurray.
He is survived by his devoted parents, Darwin and Patricia Friesen of Saskatchewan, loving sister and brother-in-law, Melinda and Tony Thompson of Lumby, cherished nieces, Carly Chaput of Alberta and Ciara Thompson of Lumby as well as his fellow sports fan and grandfather, Miros Turman of Manitoba and his loyal German Shepard, Teasha. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends throughout BC., Alberta and Manitoba.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
