It is with great sadness we mourn the passing of John Huber, who after a courageous battle with cancer died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at the age of 83 years. John was predeceased by his mother and father, Barbara and Isador; brother Emil; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jean and Robert Skene; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty; his daughter Barb; sons Bob (Helen) and Bill (Marilyn); grandchildren Jennifer, Brad and Sarah; brother Bill and sister Jane; one sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews. John was born in Grayson, SK. on February 15, 1929. He attended Gelowitz School there and worked on the family farm and various other family businesses. John and Betty found each other in Grayson where she was teaching. They married and moved to Broadview where he worked for the CPR. They moved to Regina with their young family in 1957. John worked as a Building Superintendent at Gladmar Developments until 1982 when he won the Provincial Lottery. They retired to Katepwa Lake where John was pronounced "Liqueur King of Sandy Beach" He enjoyed his retirement, spending winters in Arizona and later the Okanagan Valley in B.C.; golfing, reading, schooling us in cards and entertaining his family and friends. He had a strong faith, loved his family, lived life to the fullest and will be greatly missed. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Lebret, SK. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. by the Rev. Ronald Andree. Following the graveside service in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery there will be a time of fellowship and lunch in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sacred Heart R.C.
