Bruce Elliot Smith of Orlando, Florida, formerly of Worcester and Charlton, Massachusetts passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Osceola Medical Center from complications of Covid 19, with his family by his side.
Bruce was the son of Lucy (L’Esperance) and Carl Smith and lived in Worcester and Charlton, Massachusetts for most of his life and relocated to St. Cloud, Florida in the mid-1980’s.
Bruce worked for the city of Worcester as an electrician, as a custodian in the Dudley Public Schools and had his own trophy making business.
In Florida, he worked for Hyatt Hotels until retiring.
He leaves behind his wife and love of his life of 66 years, Lorraine Joan (Thibeault), his son Brian and his wife Jennifer of Worcester, Massachusetts, his son Daryl and his wife Kelly of Davenport, Florida, a daughter Kim Long and her husband Donald of Port Charlotte, Florida, a daughter Lisa Lowry and her husband Madison, and a daughter Desiree Swank and her husband Fatih, 14 grandchildren, Michael, Dylan, Jake, Jamie, and Daryl Jr. Smith, Richard and Mathew Leone, Heather, Madison IV, and Haley Lowry, and Damion, Brandon, Jaidon and Brianna Swank with whom he lived, and two great grandchildren, Oliver Smith and Myla Leone. He is predeceased by his son Paul, who passed away in 2010.
Bruce also leaves two sisters, Beverly Gauthier and Shirley Abruzzese, and many nieces and nephews.
Always up for a good road trip, he was the quintessential traveler, packing up the kids in the station wagon and heading off to the country’s fun spots, including one of his favorites, Dollywood. He loved spending time at the Orlando theme parks. But his most favorite thing to do was spend time with his wife and his children and grandchildren. His favorite roles were always Dad, Pepere, and Honey Bun. When asked who his favorite was, it was always the one who was asking the question, and he answered with a laugh and a twinkle in his eye.
His laughter was infectious and he will be greatly missed by all that loved him. Love and miss you, me.
Bruce was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church of Orlando, Florida.
There will be a memorial mass on August 20th at 2 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. 5125 South Apopka Vineland Rd. Orlando, Florida.
