Esteban “Steven” Vega Jr., born on November 6, 1966, passed away on January 6, 2026, in Kissimmee, Florida, surrounded by love after a life defined by integrity, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to family. A devoted husband, loving father, generous brother, attentive grandfather, and honorable son, Steven was a proud true-blooded New Yorker, born and raised in Brooklyn. He carried the grit, heart, and resilience of his city with him wherever he went.
From a young age, Steven made it his mission to build a better life for his family. He stood firmly on two unshakable values: his family and his word. At just 15 years old, he met the love of his life, Enery Vega, and they remained together until his final breath—a love story marked by loyalty, partnership, and unconditional love.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Enery Vega (58); his daughters, Jasmin Vega (29) and Jennifer Vega (35); and his loyal dog, Onyx. He was the best father a girl could ever ask for—affectionate, supportive, and the ultimate provider—leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories. Steven was also an extraordinary grandfather to his cherished “baby Jordan,” with whom he shared a bond that was truly one of a kind.
Steven was the son of Esteban Vega and Monserrate Alvarez, whose values shaped the man he became. He is also survived by his siblings: Carmen Argento, Ivan Jorge, Melvin Jorge, Carmen Vega and Janet Morales.
Steven was also a proud steamfitter with Local 638 and dedicated his career to helping build some of New York City’s most iconic buildings. His work ethic was unmatched, and he took immense pride in the legacy he helped construct—both in steel and in family.
Anyone who met Steven loved him. He was known for his love of freestyle and salsa music, candor, sharp humor, strong work ethic, and above all, his enormous heart. A die-hard New York Yankees fan, Steven never missed a game and cheered with unmatched passion.
He loved hard, he was the kind of man who would always put others before himself. That's who he was.
Despite life's challenges, Steven remained a fighter. Until the very end.
From your girls —you are and will be so deeply missed. We will live out your memory to honor your life and role in everyone's lives. May you rest peacefully in heaven, free from pain, watching over us always.
