My condolences. I met Greg in 1961 at a campground with his parents. They taught me how to water ski. I was googling him to see what he was up to. He was a very nice person and I'm sure will be greatly missed. I am very sad.

Dear Rose,
Gregg called me the night before leaving for FL. Upon hanging up, my thought was that he sounded happier than he had ever been. He told me how wonderful life is being with the right person. He was so gracious, too, at Nora's wedding, assuring me I belonged there. That is the last time I saw him, and my memory will always be that not only had he seemed to be happier than ever when we talked on the phone, but he also looked better and happier than ever.  Take time to heal and know that Gregg loved you very much.

Dear Rose:

It's your Sister, Deb.  It has taken me a long time to write this--I didn't want to say all the same things I said at the Memorial Service.  But they are some of the BEST stories and memories I have of my time with Gregg and his time with me, you and Ed.  I am so glad he came to visit that one summer--not only did I get the hot tub painted,(he was all twisted up like Gumby laying across the cover to get the sides), but I had fish from our lake for the first time!  Better than all of that, though, was how Gregg got Ed interested in fishing--we'd been in our new home for a while and Ed had never gone out--after Gregg left, he couldn't get enough!  Remember THE BIG ONE--pictures of the same fish that kept going back and forth on their emails?  Because if there wasn't a picture, then it was just another fish story.

At the service, I told about the first time I met Gregg--at a family picnic.  You walked in smiling like I've never seen you smile before--I knew he was "the one" from that moment.  You introduced him as "Gregg with two G's".  I'm thinkin' to myself--"So what--he's got a couple of thousand dollars? No big deal.  Nah, that can't be right--she must be referring to the spelling of his name"--so I blurted out loudly, "So would that be GGGGGGreg or GregGGGGGGGG?

Gregg and I spent a lot of one-on-one time together.  I remember preparing for my first visit to Hawaii with Ed and our parents.  I was visiting in Florida and you had to work.  I wanted to get some new clothes and what better place to buy summer clothes when it was winter in Ohio than in Florida?  Gregg said, "No problem--I'll take you to the Outlets."  Oh boy--we carbed up at the Ihop and hit the outlet stores.  Our first stop was to buy two large pieces of luggage to carry all of our stuff in.  We pulled them around for a while and were pretending we just got in off our flights and came right to the outlets. Gregg just laughed and said, "Let's tell people we work at Disney and we have Goofy and Donald in our bags!"  What a riot.  Then, miraculously, you got off work early and caught up with us.  You snuck up behind me and hit me with your umbrella on the dierier.  I saw Gregg step into Ninja mode--he turned around so fast to see who was daring to touch me--his head almost did a 360!  There was hatred in his eyes as he was about to defend my honor and punch out whomever was bumping up against his Sister-in-Law.  Fortunately, just prior to landing the blow, he realized it was you!  Good thing that punch never landed--all I knew was--this is the guy I want following me around!

That was Gregg's way--always looking out for others--always trying to make people feel comfortable and to laugh with them.  God, how I miss him!  And I know you do, too.  It is not going to be easy ever.  Maybe the best thing we can do in our times of sadness is remember all of the fun stories and his laughter.

Remember the time he caught the first fish out of our lake?  He brought it into my brand new kitchen and wanted to clean it with my brand new Pampered Chef knife.  Even Ed wasn't allowed to bring fish into the house, let alone touch my sacred Pampered Chef knife!  I remember busting Gregg about it--I think he thought I was really angry with him, but hopefully he knows by now that I was seriously impressed with his catch and the way he cooked that fish up--I can't remember fish tasting so good since!

How about Gregg's nickname--CB--Cabanna Boy?  He earned that from the fabulous dinner he and Ed made for us that night and I think from just waiting on us in general.  I always thought it would be fun to have a Cabanna Boy!

I still look for interesting "Do Not Disturb" signs from the doors of hotels.  Then I remember he is not here to see them any more and that makes me sad.  I will still collect them--maybe he IS seeing them.

Gregg was the light of so many lives.  No one will ever be able to snuff out his light--he will be with us always:

Greg’s impact on my life, unknowing to me at the time, began when we were 8 years old.

Greg’s acceptance, non-judgment, and calm steadiness conveyed a quiet inspiration & space in which to grow. While many of us struggled through our childhood development, Greg put others first.  If anything was troubling him, he kept it to himself and it never affected how he related to others. 

It’s no surprise to learn he carried that forward throughout his life.  He was always true to his own values and principles.  

The man you know and love was the same man in the boy I knew 56 years ago. 

 Perhaps the unchanging Greg that was, (is), and always will be.  

May your hearts remain connected.

Sweetheart~
What an impact you have made on the lives of so many!  Your Disney family and friends have shared some wonderful stories of all your adventures with them. They laugh at your humor, yet are sad that their friend is only a wonderful memory.

I am sure you led two seperate lives.  One at work and one at home.  At times they would blend, yet I have learned so much about you through your friends.  How blessed we all are for having your friendship and love of life.

I am so blessed that you looked at the woman beyond the nametag at Hudson's.  We had the best adventure of moving to Florida together and sharing our lives with one another.  We only had one expectation of each other and that was to be ourselves.  You made life easy!  Each day was a new adventure into places unknown or just relaxing in the company of one another reading a book.  You always made me proud of your fishing experiences and catching some of the biggest bass I ever saw.  You always made sure I had the camera so there were no "fish stories" where you were concerned.

Your compassion for your fellow man showed in your dedication to the Police and Fire departments of the City of Hamburg.  At Disney, you were the first to respond to any situation and always had a solution.  

You inspired me to follow my dreams what ever they may be, going into management at Disney, completing my MBA, or creating our butterfly garden.  You always supported me!

Some of our best moments were when we seemed to read each other's minds during a TV program or listening to a conversation.  You had that special look where your eyes would twinkle and mischief was always present.

Your love of family extended beyond your own family to all of my family.  You always were the highlight of any family function, looking to challenge the children in any game or just being like a child yourself by playing with all the toys.  You made everyone laugh and never worried what anyone thought.  You truely loved being around them and enjoyed yourself to the fullest.

Whether hassling the neighbors or chatting with the neighbor's dog or bird, you had friends everywhere.  Ozzy is still looking for you and Sugar keeps listening for your voice.

I look in your favorite spots, only to find you not there.  I hope you and Rick are teaching Mom, Dad, and Auntie Grace how to play our favorite card game of "Golf".  I know they will enjoy it.

Watch over me my love and keep me safe.  Thank you for being the best part of my life. The years we have spent together were filled with joy, love, fun and of just being ourselves.  I am delighted to hear that you told your family and friends that you were the happiest being in Florida with me.  You will always be in my thoughts and my heart. I will always be everything I am because you loved me.

Our Grandma and Grandpa Rodeheffer had a huge garden, lots of fruit trees, and a grape arbor.  We would help in the yard and eat grapes till we were sick.  It would terify our parents when we climbed the cherry tree.  We would eat cherries until we were stuffed, then spit the cherry pits at each other.  We playe hide and seek in the huge willow tree, that provided us switches to beat each other.
     
My favorite memory was our vacation with Gregg and Rose here in Florida.Disney was truely a blast.  He would smile everytime.  We were amazed at the magic.
     
We grew up fishing and we always enjoyed each other's company when we had fishing poles in our hands.  Sanibel Island was the best ever....Barry and Rose enjoyed watching us wade out in the Gulf, freezing in chest deep water for hours casting, smiling and looking toward heaven to honor our parents.  When I caught the first fish, believe me, I rubbed it in.....na na na boo boo!

I really didn't know Gregg like that.What I do know is that he made you happy and he loved you alot.You two shared some wonderful times together. Gregg has left his humor and kindness on all our hearts. He was a good person who my sister, my family and I adored.
Always just a phone call away he was always there to oversee our home that was once here in FL.
My family has memories of fun and laughter when it comes to Gregg Rodehefferburgersteinski, a name he always shared with my daughter. He enjoyed, video games some disney rides and a magic trick here or there.
My husband Rich has fond memories of there ever anticipated charter fishing trips where Gregg had his head between his legs or his head over board the entire time. The pictures told it all. Rich will never forget the time Gregg left him at Gatorland! He was a true friend.
When my son was 15, uncle Gregg came out for breakfast dressed just like my son with skateboard in hand and headband in place ready to take on the day - skateboarding. The mortified look on my sons face said it all. He always made us laugh. My son recently posted on his facebook, "rest in peace Uncle Gregg". 
Gregg I hope you are having many magical days playing  cards in heaven.

Rose, as you know Gregg and I became extremely close during our time at Hudson's in Michigan.  We did alot together and had some great times just messing around.  Through Gregg I also became close to you Rose and am so happy I did.  You both have been great to me and my family over the last 14 years.  I will always hold on to those fond memories of the times Gregg and I had and share them with everyone.  As Gregg concidered me a close friend or at times a son, I concidered him one of my best and closest friends.  Throught the advise and guidance Gregg has given me throughout the years I know I have become a better person. We lost a great man in Gregg and I will truely miss him.

Mr. Gregg was funny. He liked to tell jokes and he would laugh at mine. I enjoyed watching him do his awesome magic tricks. I feel sad for you Mrs. Rose. I will miss Mr. Gregg.

Mr. Gregg was my friend. He was 65 and I'm 10 but he was a good guy. We had fun playing with his remote control toys and of course Wii. Florida won't be the same. I'll miss him.

Mr. Gregg was a real good friend and I wish that I had more time to get to spend with him. One of my favourite memories of Mr. Gregg was when this past March we all spent an evening together eating your delicious chocolates and playing the card game "golf". Our Florida vacations will be very different without him and we will miss him lots.

Although we've only known you and Gregg for three years, we have many great memories of our time spent with both of you. To know Gregg was to love him and we will miss him very much. We are very grateful for all the laughs and for all the fun times we had together. Gregg spread happiness wherever he was. He has touched each and everyone of us in a special way. God bless!

I am sorry for your loss. Gregg was such a wonderful person I remember him helping me as a kid growing up in Hamburg getting me into the fire department and taking me fishing. Again I am so sorry for your loss I will miss him as well.

I got to know Greg during My Nine Years at Downtown Disney as a Cirque Usher. He was Truly A "Partners In Excellence" Recipient! He was a Good Hearted Person. We All that worked with him, Will Miss Him.

We were so sad to learn of Gregg's passing.  

He was such a great neighbor to talk with.  He enjoyed cooking on his grill, but loved to kid us about 'stinking up the neighborhood' when we grilled on ours.  

We'll miss our talks about fishing and the big bass he caught.  And watching his enjoyment playing with his remote control cars, especially when kids were visiting him.

Whenever we'd take our dog out, he would be sure to come over to see him and play with him.  And he would love to yell over and say, "Ozzy, do you have to go poopy?" whenever he'd see him trying to do his duty, to make us laugh.

We will miss his big personality and seeing him every day outside.  Gregg, you will be truly missed by all.

So very sorry to hear of Gregg's passing.  I used to work at Downtown Disney when he was a security guard there.  He was such a great guy!!  He could always brighten everyone up whenever he stopped in to say hello--it was always a highlight of the day to have him come crack a few jokes and make everyone smile.  He had such a neat personality and was always very protective of everyone--I am positive he is watching over all his loved ones from above and continuing to provide that protection.  He will be missed by many.

Angelo and I feel very lucky to have had the chance to be your neighbor and we are sorry for the loss of the years ahead, we both hope where ever he flew off to that there is kayaking and remote control cars.  We are here for you when ever you need us.

I weep for your loss.  Greg was, to me, a gentle strong man.  Non-judgmental in his demeanor and always forgiving in his heart, he was one of the most authentic human beings on the planet.

I carried him, in the recesses of my mind, as a brother with deep respect and admiration.  His passing is a great loss to all who knew him.  What he gave will live on in us forever.
