Robert James Doyle, 74, of Poinciana, FL and Jefferson Park, Lake Ontario passed away unexpectedly Sunday January 23, 2011 in Florida. Bob was born in Utica, New York and attended Kemble School and Utica Free Academy. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Fechteler and attended Electrician’s Mate School in Great Lakes, Illinois. He was a Construction Electrician at the Local 181 from 1957-1960 in the Utica area. He then was an HVAC apprentice at Griffiss Air Force Base. From there he moved to Sunnyvale, California where he worked as a General Mechanic’s Helper. Then he moved to San Jose where he spent 8 years as an Apprentice and Journeyman Electrician. In 1970 he moved back up to Central New York where he worked as a foreman at C&H plastics in Waterville. Two years later he moved to Rochester, NY where he was a Maintenance Electrician at Eastman Kodak. In 1977 he went to Baldwinsville to work at the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company. When that plant closed he became the Maintenance Foreman at General Electric in Syracuse until Anheuser-Busch hired him as a Maintenance Electrician in 1982. He retired in 1992 and enjoyed a long, happy retirement. He is survived by his wife of 18 years Mary Farmer Doyle, his son Richard P. Doyle, and daughter Susan L; two sisters: Sally Humphrey, and Rosemary Doyle, both of Utica. Everyone who knew Bob appreciated his humor, kindness, vast knowledge, and incredible work ethic. He enjoyed puttering around the lake house, reading, and sitting out on the deck overlooking the beach. When people saw him out they loved to stop and talk, as he always had a joke or a story to tell. At his Florida home he made many friends and loved the weather, swimming at the pool, reading, and meeting friends for dinner at The Grill. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
