When you loose someone very precious no one else can really know all that you feel, but only those who have lost a loved one knows of the grief that we hear in silence. I only knew Dave while we were peers at Conestoga College but this news is incredibly saddening. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends.

Some of my favorite memories are with Dave Newman,  Mike Bradbury, and Jim Akeroyd. Playing poker at your dad's apartment and when we were broke we would gamble a 2 minute fight with one another. Sometimes 2 or 3 on 1. Depending how far in the hole we were.  Life took us all our separate ways. My only connection with Dave over the past 12 years was through Facebook pictures  and messages.  We were always laughing and sticking up for each other.   
Dave, I'll always remember what a great friend, leader, and influence you were on everyone around you.

I only met Dave once and we had a great weekend camping.  It only took a short time to clearly see his thoughtfulness and unselfish care for others....always offering to help and wanting everyone to be happy and having fun.  I'll always remember tossing the football and joking how shocked I was that a Canadian knew how to throw a spiral.  Such a kind heart and he will be missed. Dave, you will be missed and never forgotten.  You were like a brother to my partner, and a beloved honorary uncle to my children.  My daughter's joyous laughter during one of your airplane rides will live in my heart forever.

I am deeply saddened by this tragic news.I have only seen Dave once or twice since my wedding in 2005, where he so kindly volunteered to video the ceremony - I think that's a good example of the type of person he was and I hope he knew how much I appreciated it. From high school, I have only fond memories of him. I pray for Dave, his family and those closest to his heart.

My dear little goblin, Davey.  How can I say goodbye to you?  My first nephew; such a funny happy little mischief maker.  So many memories of times spent with you from baby to manhood.  At the farm, at the cottage; playing with your cousins, falling out of trees and into streams.  A terrible tease.  Bright smile; sparkling dark eyes. A wonderful grown man. Such a hole you have left in our lives, but I know you are now in Grandma and Grandpa's loving arms.  You will be sorely missed and never forgotten.  We will meet again.

My son had many of the best friends, more than anyone could even hope for. To all of you THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH. I lost not only a son, but my best friend. A very large part of me has gone with him. He was my life, my hope, and my dream. I could not have asked for a more loving, kind, and beautiful son. To you his friends who loved him as much as I did, I love you all as my own, I hold you close to my heart as I held David.

On January 17, 2014 we lost our friend and brother. When one of us were down or sad, Dave was always there to make us smile, laugh and forget about our day.
