

SCHMIDT, David Oscar – Passed away peacefully at home, just as he wanted, on Friday, January 2, 2015 at the age of 72 years. Dearly loved Dad of Christine Collins, Joanne Bosse (Damian), John Schmidt (Ally) and Thomas Schmidt (Sherri). Proud Grandpa of Kaitlin, Alexandra, Josiah, Matthias, Malachi, Mackenzie and Isabel. David is survived and fondly remembered by his sisters, Darlene Aberle (Murray) and Carolyn Doubleday (the late Ken). Best buddy to his constant canine companion, Oliver. He is predeceased by his sister, Gloria Seyler, and parents Oscar and Julia Schmidt.
David worked at Uniroyal for 21 years, and was part of the security team for Barber-Collins for 15 years. Outside of work, David was a part of the St. John’s Swing Bowling league with his sons Thomas and John, and a longtime member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, where he was active on the Property Committee as well as a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. West, Kitchener, on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm . Funeral service will take place on Wednesday morning at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 258 Highland Rd., Kitchener, where friends will be received from 10am until service time. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
