

With sadness we announce the passing of Doris May Yanke at Freeport Health Centre, on Sunday June 26, 2011 in her 91st year. Dearly loved mother of Carol Filipowitsch (Helmuth) of Kitchener, Lynne Hare (Ron) of West Montrose, David Yanke (Rachel) of New Zealand and Richard Yanke of Cambridge. Much loved grandma to Lisa, Mike, David, Julie, Sasha, Mikeala and Anya, and great grandma to Brittany, Morgan, Taylor, Samantha, Lily, Adelyn and Alysha. Doris will be missed by her sister Melba Atto of Hanover, she is predeceased by her husband Bill in 2008, and by siblings Irene, Lloyd, Harold, Jean and Billy. Shel most enjoyed being surrounded by her family and took great joy in watching her grandchildren and great grand children grow. Doris Yanke was an avid knitter and genuinely enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre. She was actively involved in the activity program at The Court of Laurelwood and most recently Pinehaven Retirement Home. She loved New Zealand and at the age of 88 made the long trip to see her family. Doris Yanke will be sorrowfully missed by all whose lives she touched. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King street west on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral Service celebrating the life of Doris Yanke will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 1:00. Cremation will follow.
