Douglas Wright

Passed away peacefully on September 22, 2014 at Lisaard House, Cambridge at the age of 78 years surrounded by his loving family. Survived by his beloved wife Maureen Voisin Wright, his son Michael (Carol) Wright. Bompa to grandsons Kevin, Matthew and Christopher and brother to Donald (Virginia) Wright. He was predeceased by his first wife Marilyn (nee Smith) in 2001 and by his daughter Susan Whiteley in 2009 and his infant son Brian, two siblings-sister Marjorie Fenton and brother Paul Wright. Also remembered by Maureen’s family the Voisins and Livingstones. Doug worked for 17 years in construction as a pick and shovel labourer until he started his own company Doug Wright Construction in 1967. As an underground utility contractor his company became one of the largest in Ontario. In 2007 the construction company diversified to Doug Wright Real Estate. He remained president and was active in all company decisions with his son Michael until his health failed in August of this year. Doug was an avid reader, especially history and war chronicles. He loved hunting on his property and was also a certified pilot. He had a passion for travel which took him all over the world. In his later years he was kept busy with his home in Florida and his “farm” in Bamberg. Visitation will be at Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, ON N2G 1C7 on Wednesday September 24, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be on Thursday September 25, 2014 at 11 am. in the funeral home chapel. Special thanks to the staff at Lisaard House and to the intensive care unit at Grand River Hospital.
