Passed away peacefully surrounded
by his entire family in his 88th year
on June 6, 2013. Predeceased by
June Fishbein (Gingerich) his wife
and loving supporter in faith with
Harry over 50 years. The two shared
a rare partnership of love; modeling
a true deep care for others. Gracious,
loving father to Judith Baxter and
John Fishbein. He was a fun, loving
and devoted grandpa to Whitney,
Grace, John, Naomi, Hannah, Isaac
and Adam. Visitation will be held at
Ratz-Bechtel and funeral services at
Calvary United Church. Harry was
born in London, Ontario and was a
teacher initially. He went on to
become a bookkeeper for many
different people, and owned
Hannah's radiator supplies. He
proudly worked at the United
Church House in Toronto. Harry
would quietly do things that people
often didn't know, from opening
the Cancer Center house to
strangers at 3 a.m. in blinding snow
storms when he was 82 to counting
Zehr's tapes for Cancer. He was a
volunteer at the Grand Valley
institution since it opened. Harry
loved and cared for people in many
capacities. He enjoyed living at
People Care (A.R. Goudie). He was a
well-loved member of Calvary United
Church since 1952, serving relentlessly
in many capacities: treasurer, Adult
Sunday School teacher and active in
the True Friends class with his life
long friends. Harry's life was
devoted to advocating and serving
others. All who knew Harry
witnessed his unselfish love for
others and his love of life and his
family. He lived each day in prayer
and full trust in the Living God.
Harry's family will gather with
relatives and his family friends at
Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621
King St. W Kitchener on Monday,
June 10th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
