Jerry Koeslag

KOESLAG, Jerry – Passed away suddenly, but peacefully surrounded by his family on September 1, 2014 at the age of 86. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley (nee van der Wal). Dear father of Neil (Wanda) Koeslag and Mary Ann Koeslag (Robert Sinasac). Proud Opa of Andrew and Ian Koeslag and step-Grandpa to Ryan and Spencer Post.

Jerry is survived by his brothers, Henk Koeslag (Jean) and Herman Koeslag (Joanne), and by his sisters Marie Inthof (Klaas), Gerda Grierson (Fred), Rickie Grierson and Mineke Spencer (Bill). He is also survived by sisters-in-law Bertha Koeslag and Guusje Koeslag, both in Ontario and Alie van der Wal, Jo van der Wal, and Aaltje van der Wal, all in the Netherlands. Jerry is predeceased by 6 brothers and sisters. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

He was the owner/operator of Jerry Koeslag Plumbing Repairs from 1970 – 1991, when his son Neil took over the business. Jerry was a member of Rosebank Brethren in Christ Church and will be missed by his church family, as well as many friends.

Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. West, Kitchener on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A memorial service celebrating Jerry’s life will take place on Saturday at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Harden officiating. A reception will follow at the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre.
