Miriam Helen Snyder Sokvitne

Passed away peacefully on July 19, 2012 at Winston Park Retirement Home in her 100th year. Predeceased by her husband Lars (Lee) Sokvitne (1987). Also predeceased by her parents Joseph and Priscilla Snyder, her brothers Joseph Edward Snyder and David Homer Snyder and by her sister Martha Maier. Miriam is survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Miriam was a faithful and active member of Historic St. Paul's Lutheran Church, she trained at St. Mary's and became a public health nurse with the Waterloo County School Board, she was a driving force behind the creation of the Joseph Schneider Haus, a Past-President of the Waterloo Historical Society and was an active historical preservationist and environmentalist. Visitation will be held at Historic St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 137 Queen St. S., Kitchener on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment at First Mennonite Cemetery.
