TOMS, Steven Jeffery - Heartbroken friends and family wish they could have prevented Steve’s accidental death on February 21. Adored big brother of Janine, son of Gary and Ellie (deceased 2004), and partner of Claire, Steve was a loyal and caring friend, and an accomplished and award–winning bass player with a devilish sense of humour. He felt that music was his way of giving back to the community and was truly generous with his gift. A master of many genres, Steve devoted his life to music and was a creative hub of the Kitchener-Waterloo music community for two decades playing in several bands and backing up countless musicians on stage and in the studio. Born June 27, 1976, he started playing in bands at the age of 12 with his father and later formed the Miniatures with friends at Resurrection Catholic School. In 2001 he joined garage blues band Daddy Longlegs, with whom he released five albums and won a Canadian Independent Music Award (2008) and a Maple Blues Award (2008). Steve was boundary-less, and encouraged you to be as well. He lived life without watering it down or filtering it. He will be remembered as kind, sympathetic, clever, hilarious, non-judgmental, edgy, quirky, irreverent, passionate, quick to laugh, impossible to dislike and always, always ready to play. A private memorial service is being held, followed by a celebration of Steve’s life. For details watch for updates on the http://www.bit.ly/SteveToms
