

Beuna LaVera "Vera" Bell McBryant Farmer, age 96, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away at home on Friday, June 6, 2025. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Bluegrass for over 50 years. During her many years at the church, she faithfully taught countless boys and girls about Jesus, leaving a lasting legacy of love and faith.
She retired from Levi Strauss after 30 years of service, and in her retirement, continued caring for others as a loving nanny to three families. She was also a proud member of the Sweet Adelines Knoxville Chorus, where she shared her passion for music. She had a deep love for flowers and singing, which brought joy to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John W. “Dub” McBryant; her father, William J. Bell Sr.; her mother, Icy Bell Hodge; her son, James W. “Jim” McBryant; great-granddaughter Gracie A. McBryant; son-in-law Carl H. Kennedy; brother William J. “Bill” Bell Jr. and his wife Nadine; sister Carolyn D. Hubbard and her husband Tom; and brothers Mark Jefford "Jeff" Bell, and Sammy Bell.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Kennedy and Donna Gordon; grandchildren Carla Kennedy, Bryan Gordon (Priscilla), Jamie Hutchins (Dave Marshall), and Joseph “Joey” McBryant (Jennifer); great-grandchildren Brittany Hutchins, Austin Gordon, Katie Corum, Kate Turner, Jessi, Drew, Sophie, and London McBryant; and great-great-granddaughters Ava Tipton; special friends, Jenni Dolbee, Jim Roach and Leigh Nelson.
The family invites you to honor her memory with donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization close to her heart.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 1pm at Berry Highland West Cemetery, with Reverend Andy Long officiating.
