

Bill was born in Knoxville on May 24th, 1948 and graduated from South High School. He served his country during Vietnam and Desert Storm as a member of the United States Army 844th Engineer Battalion, reaching the rank of Sergeant First Class. After his retirement, Bill spent his time involved in numerous Veteran activities. He served as the treasurer of the 844th Reunion Group, a dedicated participant of Wreaths Across America, and was consistently finding ways to help his fellow Vets. In addition to his military service, he spent 38 years working for the City of Knoxville Traffic Engineering department. He was a proud alumni of the South High School class of 1966, and started a Monday lunch tradition with his fellow classmates. Bill dedicated his life to others.
Bill was preceded in death by his Mother, Annie Cline Bright; Father, William Ira Bright, and Brother; Bobby Ray Bright (Charlotte).
He is survived by his wife, Tiffany; children: Cari Riffey (Cheyenne), Leslie Lowe (Jon), and Ryan Bright; grandchildren: Brytonie, Greyson, Regan, Julia, Danielle, and Samantha; great-grandchildren: Emma, Nora, and Hadley; first wife, Barbara Bright Carmichael; best friend for the past 5 years: BG, aka Weylynne; numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
He will be remembered for his kindness, selflessness, and his ability to never meet a stranger. You could always find humor with Bill, as he always found the right time to crack a joke. His laughter, wisdom, and strength, were gifts to everyone who knew him.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 6, 2025, between the hours of 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920 with a funeral to follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor Jason Creech officiating. Family and friends will meet Thursday, August 7, 2025, at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 220 East. Gov. John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920 for a 10:00 AM Interment service with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the 844th Benevolence Fund, @Benevolence844th via Venmo.
