She was preceded in death by her son, James Anthony Captain; mother, Lucille Helmecki; brother, George L. James; and sister Mary Clevenger.
She is survived by husband of 57 years, Johnny Captain; daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Robert Davila; granddaughters, Hope (Chad) and Christina (Cameron) Captain; grandsons, Anthony Captain, Yanni and Periclis Davila; and great-grandsons, Cash and Zephyr. She is also survived by brothers, Stan Helmecki, Dallas James and John James; and special brother-in-law, Chuck Clevenger.
Carol was a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University with a nursing degree and spent her career as a nurse at St Mary’s, retiring as the director of nursing of the Transitional Care Unit. Caring for others was her lifelong passion. She was also a member of Saint George Greek Orthodox Church and enjoyed being a part of the preparation for Greek Fest.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Kingston Pike, with a service to follow. A Graveside service will be held at 1 PM at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Carol's name to Saint George Greek Orthodox Church.
