

Christine Butler, 84, of Knoxville, TN, passed away on January 1, 2017. The funeral service will be held at Berry Highland Memorial at 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919 at 2 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2017. Mark Moreland of Central Baptist Church will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Berry Highland Memorial West at 9913 Sherrill Blvd, Knoxville, TN 37932. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Berry Highland Memorial. Christine was born in Gallatin, TN on December 23, 1932 and married her first love, E.H. Butler on January 20, 1951; they were married nearly 66 years. Christine worked in Knoxville from 1968 in administrative and personnel management until she retired in 1994. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking for her family. She was actively involved in charity work after retirement and enjoyed Bridge Club with her friends and neighbors. Christine is survived by her husband, E.H. Butler, her children; daughters Sylvia Shinpaugh, Nancy Payne, son Allen Butler; her grandchildren, Anthony and Brandon Payne, Kaleigh and Danielle Butler; her sisters Wilma Dean Uhler and Lena Mae Short and many nieces and nephews. Christine is preceded in death by her son, Stephen Craig Butler, her mother and father Edith and William Hall, her brothers William Hall, Jr., Bobby Hall and sister Ann Johnson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The Pat Summit Foundation, www.patsummit.org. The family of Christine Butler wishes to thank her Gulf Park friends and neighbors for their companionship and love for the past 48 years.
