

WALKER, CURTIS WILLIAM - age 91 of Knoxville passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010 at his home. Veteran of the Navy in WWII he saw action at Lyte Gulf, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He worked for TVA and helped build dams all over East Tennessee and Kentucky. He then spent 23 years at Y-12 as a large machine mechanic. He was a three time recipient of the Lion of the Decade and the Melvin Jones Fellow as a member of the Karns Lions Club, and a 50 year Master Mason at Beaver Ridge Lodge. Preceded in death by parents Will and Minnie Walker; daughters, Janice Walker and Betty Celeste Walker Wells. Survived by wife of 70 years Mary Mills Walker; son and daughter-in-law William Todd Walker and TyJwana Walker; grandsons, William Forester Walker and Jeremy Wells; granddaughter Madison Lea Walker and two great-grandsons Seth and Nathan Wells; siblings Willis Walker (Julia), Geraldine Day (Bill), Rosemary Creech (Bill), and Hazel Cresswell; several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to family friend Henry White for his care. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday at Beaver Ridge United Methodist Church with service to follow at 7 pm. Catherine Nance officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:45 pm Friday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dandridge, TN. for a 2 pm interment.
