Daniel Albert Sims

Daniel (Dan) Albert Sims, age 61, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017. Dan was owner of Sims Metalworx and was a specialty welder (Certified) and fabricator. Some of his work included working on race car engine/body parts and fabricating theatrical designs. Dan was especially proud of the work he did at Pratt Pavilion on the U.T. campus while employed at Axis Fabrication and Machine Co. He enjoyed hiking in the Smokies, preparing and enjoying gourmet food and fine wine. He was preceded by mother, Edith Combs Sims. Survived by his wife of 18 years, Marsha Rochelle Sims; father, A.H. (Herman) Sims; sisters, Elizabeth Sims Thomas and Marta Sims Ray (Rick); and three nieces and one nephew. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway. A service will follow at 2:00pm with Rev. Jimmy Sherrod officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Friends of the Smokies, P.O. Box 1660, Kodak, TN 37764.
