Donald Eugene Alleman, 89, of South Knoxville, passed away on March 9, 2026, at his cherished South Knoxville home. He had been recovering from a recent surgery, and longed to return to his home following his hospital and rehabilitation stays, which he did joyfully on 2/24/2026. He had so longed to enter his new Heavenly home from the comforts of his earthly home, and God mercifully allowed this to happen!
Don was born on 4/14/1936 and grew up on Brookside Ave in the Beaumont area of Knoxville. He was a proud Rule / Fulton High School graduate, Army veteran and an IBEW electrician (Local 270) who gave of his talents at the Department of Energy - Oak Ridge plants for over 35 years, retiring in 2000.
Don married South Knoxville’s Faye Galyon Alleman on 8/30/1963. He loved and cared for her deeply, and often said that he “Hit the Jackpot!” when they married and moved to South Knoxville. Don was a soft spoken, humble man, who was also an incredibly talented, hard-working electrician, plumber, and mechanic! He absolutely loved to work with his hands (tear stuff up, as he would say) and give of himself to his family, friends, and beloved local churches, Valley Grove and Galilee Baptist churches. He also loved attending VA (Veterans Affairs) breakfasts with his family and friends. After his wife Faye passed away on 8/25/2019, they are now joyfully reunited in Heaven, as Don has been welcomed to his new eternal Heavenly home by his Savior Jesus Christ, of whom he loved and served so well!
Don and Faye’s marriage of nearly 56 years produced 2 beautiful daughters, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandsons, all of which both Don and Faye were so proud of! Don felt so blessed in recent years to have welcomed his 2 special great-grandsons, Mack O’Dell and Wiley Spears. These 2 young boys were sure to put a loving, proud smile on Don’s face, no matter what his circumstances were! Don was preceded in death by his wife Faye Galyon Alleman; parents, Ella Ellen Hartley and Benjamin Franklin Alleman; sister Sandra “Sandy” Ellen Presley; Survivors include brother-in-law Ray Presley; daughters and sons-in-laws Ria and Scott Langford; Robyn and Roger O’Dell; beloved grandchildren Katie Langford Butler (Alex); Emily Langford Spears (Jesse); Jeremy Langford; Colton O’Dell; and Kristen O’Dell (Blake Sweeney); beloved great-grandsons Mack Nathaniel O’Dell; and Wiley Scott Spears.
Services at Berry Highland South Chapel on Saturday, March 14, 2026 will include the Receiving of Friends from 12:30 – 2:00 pm, Funeral Service at 2 p.m., followed by the burial at the adjacent cemetery at 3 p.m. Special pall bearers will be Colton O’Dell, Blake Sweeney, Jeremy Langford, Alex Butler, Jesse Spears, Mike Langford, and Michael Turner.
A special thank you and recognition are accorded to Don’s wonderful caregivers, nurses, and therapists over the past few years, including Kelly, Sara, Penny, Kamela, John, and many others, who so faithfully and compassionately assisted and cared for Don until his passing. The family thanks you all from the bottom of their hearts!
