Donnette was born April 23, 1962, in Germany and was raised in Pikeville, Kentucky. She attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School through grade school and was a member of Pikeville High School’s Class of 1980, where she proudly lettered on the PHS girls’ basketball team. She was a member of Sevier County Church of God and carried her faith with her throughout her life.
Soon after high school, Donnette married the love of her life, Jack Hughes, and together they built a life centered on family and love. They were blessed with three sons. After the birth of their youngest son, the family moved to Sevierville, Tennessee, where Donnette began her journey as a business owner. In 2009, she became the owner of Just Cleaning in Sevierville, growing it into a successful and well-respected business through hard work and dedication.
Donnette loved her family deeply, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren, who truly were her world. In her final days, they were her greatest source of strength and purpose. She cherished her relationship with Jesus, traveling with her family, beach trips with her best friend, attending Morgan Wallen concerts, shopping, and making memories with those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hughes; her father, Donald Dotson; her mother, Emily Walters Skeens; and her grandmother, Elizabeth Walters, who lovingly raised her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her three sons: Ben Hughes (Rachel) and Josh Hughes (Destiny), both of Seymour, Tennessee, and Matt Hughes of Greenville, Tennessee; her sisters, Renee Baker (Johnny) of Winchester, Kentucky, and Ronda Bush (Ivan) of Brooksville, Kentucky; and her seven beloved grandchildren, Caleb Hughes, Brady Maples, Reaves Hughes, Waverly Hughes, Caroline Hughes, Karsen Hughes, and Isaiah Gibson. She is also survived by extended family, dear friends, and her special fur baby, Georgie. The family will receive friends Sunday January 18, 2026 at Berry Highland South from 11-12 pm. Service will follow with Rev. Steve Dawson officiating. Family and friends will meet Monday January 19, 2026 for a 11:00 am committal
Pallbearers will be Caleb Hughes, Brady Maples, Reaves Hughes, Jake Duff, Todd Duff, Curtis Talbot, Jimmy Carter, and Elmon Walters. Condolences may be offered at www.berryhighlandsouth.com
