
Atchley, Dorothy Louise Risdon, age 87, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace G. Atchley, Jr. who passed away in January of 2004. Born November 4, 1927 to Edgar and Edith Risdon, Dorothy grew up in the Burlington area. She was a life member of Kirk Hills Presbyterian Church (formerly Kirkwood Presbyterian Church) and a graduate of Washington College Academy. Dorothy was a retired remedial reading teacher’s aide for the Knoxville School system. She was also a member of Acacia Order of the Eastern Star. Dorothy is survived by her children, son Alan J. Atchley of Knoxville, Tennessee; daughter and son-in-law Lisa Atchley Bustos and Jeff Emmert of Clinton, Tennessee; four grandchildren: Heather Bennett of Columbus, Georgia; Andrea Suddreth of Hanover, Pennsylvania; Justin Suddreth of Clinton, Tennessee; and Steven Emmert of Arlington, Texas; sister-in-law, Willie and husband, James E. “Bud” Galyon; several nieces and nephews; and special family friend Lora Loring. The family would like to thank Norris Health and Rehabilitation Center in Andersonville, Tennessee for their wonderful and caring staff of Doctors and Nurses, especially the “400” CNA’s who gave Dorothy excellent care during her time there. Family and friends will meet at Woodlawn Cemetery for a graveside service on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, Rev. Daniel Tipton officiating.
