Dorothy Lovin was Born in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, in what is now known as Metcalf Bottoms, a descendant of the Maples, Jennings and Metcalfs.
Wonderful wife, mother, and mamaw. She loved everyone. She retired from Walmart, but for years was known as the 'Cake Lady', making beautiful cakes. There is not one of us that doesn't remember licking the spoon when she made icing. She also worked as a baker at Mt. Olive Elementary School, was a pastry chef at the Candy factory during the world's fair, and was asked to cook soul food when Micheal Jackson and his brothers were in town and she worked at the airport Hilton.
She was an amazing gardener and we used to joke she could make a stick take root. Forever generous in sharing plants from her garden. She was also a canner, and taught many in her family how to can, but I (Cheryl, her daughter ) never did learn from her just how she made those amazing biscuits. Fond memories of us all sitting around shucking corn from the garden, and waiting on Dad's peach icecream to get done churning.
She loved her animals, her sweet dog Sugar, feeding the raccoons that came to her door every night, feeding the birds, and her pet bunny ' Buddy', who had free run of her house.
She had a beautiful voice, and it was the highlight of our birthdays when she could call and sing us Happy Birthday.
Dorothy was married to Paul Ray Lovin for 57 years. We kid that he was probably waiting for her at the pearly gates saying, "it's about time, where's my biscuits and gravy ?"
Dorothy had four children, Cheryl Morgan , John Michael Morgan , Hollis Morgan and Ricky Morgan She is preceded in death by her son, Mike Morgan.
Beloved brothers and sisters, Dean Jennings ( wife Gin ), Betty Campbell , Wanda campbell, and Pink Jennings
Loved her grandchildren, Aric Morgan, Catie Phipps ( Husband Caleb ), Bethany Morgan, Whitney Morgan, Shaun Morgan, and Amanda Adams ( Husband Brandon ). They all knew her as Mamaw.
She had seven beautiful great grandchildren, Anthony , Jalen, Mia, Aayden , Nya, Cody and Austin.
