BROWN, ELLEN GERTRUDE – age 86 went home to Heaven on Thursday, August 29, 2013. There to meet her were her parents, W.H. and Eunice Johnson of the old Karns Community; Sisters, Blanche Jones and Lillian Boling; brother, Bill Johnson III. She married Roy E. Brown and had 47 years together before he preceded her to Heaven in November 1993.Daughter-in-law, Jan Trotter Brown and granddaughter Megan LeAnne Brown. Survived by sons, Roy Edward Brown, Jr. and wife Tish Griffey, Clyde W. Brown Sr. and wife Margaret; daughter, best friend and caregiver, Ellen J. Brown; Grandsons, Billy Brown and wife Caycie, Roy E. Brown III (Chip); granddaughters, Erin Nicole and husband Steve Hall, Luci Brown and husband Josh Samples; great-granddaughters, Megan Brown and due in October, Ashlyn Brown; step great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Caleb and Hannah (Kat) Spears, many nieces and nephews; special sister-in-law, Colette Brown. She was a member of Lynnwood United Methodist Church for 57 years and was currently the oldest member there. She was very active in those years and loved working in her church serving as a Sunday school teacher for the teen youth for about 25 years then taught the adult class and led the M.Y.F. group for many years. She worked for Sears Roebuck on Central Ave. for about 14 years. Family will receive friends Saturday at Weaver funeral Home from 6:00pm-8:00 pm with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 8:00 pm or as she called it her “Going Away Party”. Rev. John Jackson officiating. Family and friends will meet at Highland Memorial Cemetery on Sunday at 1:15 pm for a 1:30 interment.
