Ernie Lynn Porterfield Sr., age 76, of Knoxville passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 5, 2025. Ernie was a Sergeant with the 25th infantry, spending 1 year in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart for injuries during combat. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Sr and Dorothy (Burnett) Porterfield; wife of 45 years, Anna (Blaylock) Porterfield. Ernie is survived by 3 sons, Ernie Jr (Sheila), Edward (Jackie) and Freddie (Megan); sisters, JoAnn Garner, Vickie (Don) Huskey; brothers, Harold Jr and Mike; grandkids, Stephanie, Ashley, Justin, Case, Adelyn and Eve. The family will meet Wednesday June 11, 2025 at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery for a 12:30 p.m Graveside service. Rev. Greg Wolfe officiating.
