Rev. Gregg Causey, age 66 passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1977-1981. Gregg also served at Peniel Drug and Alcohol Residential Treatment Center in Somerset, Pennsylvania from 1992-1995. He was an ordained bishop in Church of God, Cleveland Assembly. He was pastor of Eastmore Church of God (Knoxville, TN) since 2006, and formerly of Sedalia, Missouri from 1997-2004. Gregg was the former police chaplain for Knox County, and served as a hospice chaplain in Missouri. He enjoyed woodworking, building flags, and selling them to benefit missions projects. He was a missionary to Peru, Amazon jungle, Brazil, Cuba, Nepal, and Costa Rica. Gregg founded Outside the Gates Ministry, which supported drug recovery and missions. He had a passion for teaching at many drug rehabilitation programs in the local area. Gregg had a servant's heart and a gift for comforting those in need, and teaching The Bible in a way everyone could understand.
Preceded in death by his step-father, Jerry Wyatt.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sharon (Jordan) Causey; mother, Dora Wyatt; son, Aaron Causey (Amber); daughter, Abby Goncalves (Filipe); sisters, Donna Harper and Anne Marie Weatherly; brother, John Wyatt; and grandchildren: Aslan, Arlie, Aaryn, Galilee, Atlas, and Addie.
Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:00 PM Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at McCarty Evergreen Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at LaFollette Church of God, 1906 Jacksboro Pike LaFollette, TN 37766, on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 1:00 PM, with a visitation from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
