

.James “Holly” Wheeler Hollifield, age 74, passed away November 23, 2016, at home in Knoxville, TN, after a brave battle against lung cancer. Holly was an Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War and retired from the construction field after decades as a crane operator. A lifelong lover of country music and western movies, his later years were also filled with fishing, playing computer solitaire, and taking his Mustang out for a drive. He is preceded in death by parents, Caria and Effie Hollifield; son, Danny Hollifield; brothers, Johnny, Gene, and Jerry Hollifield; and sister, Martha Jackson.
Left behind to cherish his memory are devoted wife of over twenty years, Jackie; sons, Wayne, David (Melissa), Chris (Shirley), and Junior (Gretchen) Hollifield; daughters, Angela Vecchioni, Teresa Wise, and Cheri Hollifield; sisters, Snookie Woods and Susie Waddell; grandchildren, Shirley, Brian, Katie, Derek, Heather, Melissa, Jonah, Lynnsey, Madison, Carissa, Dalton, Lucas, Gracie, Jeremiah, and Greyson; numerous great-grandchildren; step-sons David, Bobby, and Stevie Hunley, along with their children and grandchildren; and special friends, Mike Rozzell and Con Hunley. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 27, 2016 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, with a service to follow at 7:00pm.
