James Gordon Hutchinson passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021. He was born April 21, 1933 in Oakland, California and grew up in Bloomfield, New Jersey. Jim graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1955 and started his career with U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh and Vandergrift, PA. He served two years in the Army Chemical Corp. Jim also worked for the Heppenstall Company in Pittsburgh for 13 years, Green River Steel in Owensboro, KY for 10 years, and finally at Gerdau (Knoxville Iron, Ameristeel) for 17 years. He also participated in AISI, ASTM and CRSI technical societies in areas related to the steel products involved. His wife, Mary Joyce Yeatman, of 58 years preceded him in death.
Jim is survived by four children; son, James (Jamie) and wife Tanya; daughter, Jennifer Payne and husband Glenn all of Owensboro, KY; son, Jonathan and wife Jennifer of Lexington, KY and son, Jason and wife, Kristie of Knoxville, TN; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
