

WAGGONER, JAMES ROBERT (JIM) – age 86, departed this life to join Heaven’s choir on September 9, 2012. Jim’s devotion to Christian music began as a child when he was part of the “Singing Waggoners”. He was a Navy veteran of World War II in the Pacific. Jim was a member of Olivet Baptist Church where he was a charter member and choir director. He was a member of the original Tennesseans Quartet for 35 years, master of ceremonies at the All Night Sing in Renfro Valley, Kentucky, and he and his mother were on Knoxville’s Radio Station WKXV Amazing Grace Hour. His rendition of the Star Spangled Banner was unequalled and anyone who heard him sing remembers it today. He was owner and operator of Jim Waggoner Motors. Jim had a great love of baseball. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Jonnie McAfee Waggoner; father, Henry Waggoner, Sr.; mother, Edna Lowe Waggoner; and brother, Henry Waggoner, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Linda Waggoner; brother, Wesley Waggoner; sister, Becky Barbour; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Missy Waggoner; daughter and son-in-law Vickie and Jeff Davis; grandchildren, Christopher and Amy Beth Waggoner, Drew, John, Jade, and Tori Thomas; and a host of loved relatives and friends. Family will receive friends at Olivet Baptist Church, Wednesday, September 12, 2012, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a chapel service to follow at 8:00 P.M. Rev. Johnny Price officiating. Family and friends will meet Thursday, 10:45 A.M. at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 5313 Kingston Pike for an 11:00 A.M. interment.
