James P. Sherfey

James Paul Sherfey (J.P.), age 85 went to be with the Lord on July 20, 2015, peacefully at home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. J.P. was retired from AT&T Phone Company after 30 years of service. J.P. is survived by his wife of 60 years, Cathrine Reese Sherfey, daughter Rhys Anne Gibson, daughter & son-in-law Dawn and Ricky Gibson, daughter & son-in-law Paula and Russ Hollingsworth. Grandchildren Shannon and husband Paul Ownby, Justin and wife Nikki Phillips Gibson, Zac Gibson, Kaley and husband Tyler Miller, Joel Hollingsworth; Great Grandchildren, Riley Beets, Greyson Ownby, Skye Phillips; multiple nieces & nephews. Special friends, Nickey and Cindy Maxey and family. We would like to thank the wonderful caregiver, Sandra Moore from Always Best Care & Blount Memorial Hospice for their compassion and gentle care. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Thursday, July 23, 2015 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home with a celebration of life service to follow at 7 PM. Reverend Charlie McNutt officiating. The family will meet Friday morning at 9:00 AM at Berry Funeral Home and proceed in procession to Berry Highland South for a 10 AM interment service.
