

JC Bowman was born in Lafollette, Tennessee, and grew up in Harlan, Kentucky. He went to Loyall High School, graduated as the salutatorian. At Loyall High School, he was a star quarterback. He also played basketball and baseball at Loyall High School and earned varsity letters in all three sports. JC was a longtime member of Cumberland Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN
During Korean War, JC joined the US Air Force. He served four years in the Air Force as a radio operator and an instructor. He stationed in Sheffield, England and San Antonio, Texas. After honorable discharge from the US Air Force, he went onto the University of Tennessee, and got a degree in accounting. He worked for the US Postal Service for 38 years and retired as the director of finance. He was married to Dorothy Smith for 42 years until she passed away. JC is survived by sisters Laura Horton of Kalamazoo, MI and Mary Wilson of Bledsoe, KY. Family will receive friends 1-3 pm Thursday at Weaver Funeral Home with a service to follow at 3 pm.
