

Neil, Jean Bailey, 87, passed away May 24, 2016, with her children beside her. Jean was born in Strawberry Plains, Tennessee, on April 28, 1929. She was a graduate of Rush Strong High School and attended Lincoln Memorial University and Carson Newman College. She taught at Rush Strong Elementary School before becoming a homemaker.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents Lonas and Edna Bailey, husband of 62 years Albert (Al) Richard Neil, son Scott Richard Neil, and brothers William (Bill) Harned and Lonas Edgar (Ed) Bailey, Jr. Jean is survived by brother James Hopkins (Jim Hop) and Jane Bailey, and her children; James and Carol Neil Raxter and Russell (Russ) Bailey and Lisa Neil. Jean is also survived by her grandsons and their families; Scott Richard II and Rebekka Neil (Scotty and Ashlee), James Neil and Victoria Raxter (Zach and Gabe), Elliott Bailey Raxter, and Issac Allen Neil and fiancée Katherine Smith. Jean loved her family, including her nephews, nieces, and their families.
Carol and Russ would like to thank the staff and residents of Raintree Terrace Assisted Living for their love and compassion at her "condo." Jean's family will receive friends on Saturday, June 4, 10:00am-12:00pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, with a celebration of life service to follow, officiated by Rev. Don Thomas and Rev. Brenda Dowell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 5613 Western Ave., Knoxville, TN 37921.
