“Jenny Lee Griggs passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. She was a devoted mother, wife, sister, partner, and friend whose warmth touched everyone she met.
A lifelong Tennessean, Jenny graduated from West High School in 1972. She had a deep love for the beauty of the Smoky Mountains—spending countless hours hiking the trails and sightseeing in her favorite places. Her sense of wonder and appreciation for nature was one of the many things that made her special.
Jenny was also deeply devoted to Third Creek Baptist Church, where she found comfort, purpose, and a strong sense of community. She had a passion for movies and live music and loved sharing those experiences with her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry David Griggs, and her parents, Leon and Geraldine Mayo.
Jenny is survived by her sons, Robert Griggs of Knoxville and Derek Griggs and his wife Morgan of Lewisburg; and by her beloved grandchildren, Parker, Baylor, and Brewer Griggs. She is also survived by her brother Kenneth Mayo and his wife Glenda of Seymour; her loving partner, Anthony Anastasio of Clinton; and her nephew Jeff Mayo and his family of Atlanta.
Jenny’s gentle spirit, her love of life, and her unwavering devotion to her family and faith will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Dementia Society of America in Jenny’s memory, in honor of her strength and compassion.”
