Jerry was born in Knoxville and resided there the rest of his life. He married his sweetheart Sherry Daniel in 1964, and they were happily married for 59 years. He worked for John B. Long Company as a welder for 53 years.
Jerry was an avid outdoorsman with a huge love of deer hunting and fishing, until mobility kept him from going. He enjoyed collecting various things but was passionate about coins and guns. He loved his grandkids and great-grandkids and enjoyed every minute he got to spend with them teasing and rough housing. He had a way of kidding with you that would get you worked up, and then he would just start smirking. He could argue with the best of them, and was also the one that everyone called when they needed help. He would give you the shirt off his back and tried to take care of everyone.
Christmas was his favorite time of year and from the 1970's to about 2011 Jerry loved playing Santa Claus for his kids and grandkids, as well as kids of their friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Filmore (Todd) and Helen LaFollette, and siblings George (Rusty) LaFollette, Shirley (Sis) Hickman, Donald (Buster) LaFollette, and Cheri Nieporte-Murphy
He is survived by his wife Sherry Daniel LaFollette and his three children: Jimmy (Terri) LaFollette, Ronnie (Jennifer) LaFollette, and daughter JoAnn (Scott) Lale. As well as many beloved Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.
The family will have a funeral service on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 1:00PM in the Westwood Chapel of Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville 37919.
