A 1979 graduate of Doyle High School, he worked professionally as a plumber and welder for his entire career, working last for Engert Plumbing and Interstate Mechanical. For the past two decades, he has served his family as a full-time caregiver.
Jim, Jimmy, Jimbo or Bobo, as known by his grandchildren, nephew and nieces, was an adventure seeker. He enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, sky-diving, hiking and camping. As The Kurgen from Highlander, one of his favorite shows, said, “It’s better to burn out, than fade away.” He lived fiercely and went quickly, just as he’d have wanted.
He is preceded in death by his mother Betty Lynn Reed White and the mother of his children and lifelong friend Teresa Drinnen Siler. He is survived by his daughter Leigh White (Nikolay Denchev), son Andrew White (Audrey White), grandchildren Tatyana and Denitsa Dencheva and Jack and Hank White, father Jim White, Sr. and friend Linda Turbyfill, sister Lisa Goodman (Mark Goodman), nephew Cameron Goodman and nieces Meredith and Isabella Goodman, and numerous friends and family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Jimmy’s honor to the Friends of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the place where he felt most at peace.
