Joyce Marshall Barlow Rich: October 8, 1934 - July 1, 2018. Joyce was born to John and Cora Lee Bawgus Marshall in Caldwell County, NC. She moved to Johnson City, TN as an infant. She was a 1952 graduate of Lamar High School, Jonesborough, TN and attended East Tennessee State University. She was married to Bill Barlow, father of her two sons Tim and Jeff, from January 1954 until his death in November 1999. She was married to Norman Rich from April 2001 until his death in November 2010.
She moved to the Knoxville area in 1968 living in first the Claxton Community of Anderson County and later in Fountain City. She was a resident of The Courtyards Senior Living for the past three years. She was a banker having worked at the Hamilton Bank in Johnson City and the Hamilton, United American and First Tennessee Banks in Knoxville. Over the years she was a member of Lone Oak Christian, First Christian and Boone's Creek Christian Church in Johnson City and Claxton Christian and Halls Christian Church after her move.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, parents, brother Jack, sisters Audrey, Mary Ruth and Wanda. She is survived by son Tim his wife Alice and daughter BreeAnn Barlow of Knoxville, son Jeff and wife Denise Barlow of Punta Gorda, FL, sister Debbie Marshall of Greenville, SC, lifelong friend Alpha Bridger and special friend Kasie Morgan along with nieces, nephews. The family thanks her special caregivers over these past three months.
Receiving of friends will be from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 5, with celebration of life at 6:30 p.m. Family friend and Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice Chaplain A.D. Baxter will officiate, Weaver Funeral Home, 5815 Western Avenue, Knoxville. Private graveside services will precede the celebration.
