Katherine Gertrude Southerland Coulter

Katherine Gertrude Southerland Coulter, age 89, of Knoxville, TN went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. She was born April 15, 1935 in Greeneville, TN, where she grew up on a farm in Chuckey. Katherine was a longtime member of Meridian Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, worked in the church kitchen, and served in the nursery. Katherine and Dave also delivered Meals on Wheels in the community. She retired from Knoxville Utilities Board after 35 years. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother. Katherine loved to bake and cook for her family and friends. She found joy in serving others.

Preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, David “Dave” Coulter; and 9 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her children, Gary Coulter (Sandy), Kathy Coulter Wood (Michael), and David Coulter (Mary); six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff of LifeCare of Blount County for their love and care.

Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Friday, May 24, 2024 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920, with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM. Family and friends will meet at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, 3736 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville, TN 37804, for interment following the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideons International in Katherine's honor.
