Kathryn Elaine Wood Wheatley

Kathryn E. Wheatley, age 98, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 13, 2015. She was a faithful member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church since 1950, teaching Sunday School in the Intermediate Department for over 45 years. She worked at Kern’s Bakery, Atlas Sewing Center, and Miller’s Department Store. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Kathryn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rufus Wheatley; grandson, Beau Wheatley; parents, Mr. and Mrs. JH Wood; brother, Robert Wood; sister, Mary Lynn Watson Davis; and sister-in-law, Barbara Wood. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Terry Wheatley; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Chris and Kati Wheatley; granddaughter-in-law, Korey Wheatley; great-granddaughter, Chloe Wheatley; sister, Margaret McMillan; brother, JH Wood, Jr.; brother-in-law, Joe Wheatley; and sister-in-law, Dot Wood. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to her caregiver, Debbie and Avalon Hospice nurse, Cathy. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home with a celebration of Kathryn’s life to follow at 7:00 PM, Rev. Don Wilson officiating.
