Kenneth Murrell Horton

Horton, Kenneth M. (Papaw) - age 80 of South Knoxville passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011. He was of the Baptist faith. He was retired from the U. S. Air Force with 23 years service, serving in Viet Nam and Korea. After retiring from the Air Force he also worked several years at Marmon Transmotive. He served many years coaching and working at Maynard Glen Ball Park and was an avid golfer and had a great love of all sports especially U. T. football. Kenneth graduated from Stair Tech High School in 1948. Preceded in death by parents James and Macy Horton; brother, Earl Edward Horton; infant son, David Kenneth Horton. Survived by wife of 57 years, Patricia Horton; children and spouses, Karen and Ronnie Mills, Shari and David Hamilton and Steven and Kari Horton; grandchildren, Ronnie Jr. and wife Danielle Mills, Meredith and Grant Horton, Rachael and Hannah Hamilton; step-grandchildren, Tyler Hamilton and wife Kristi, and Andrew Hamilton,; great grandchildren, Abigail, Madison, Caden, Alaina and Carsyn; sister, Judith Ann Horton; and from Australia brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Maryse Monk and sister-in-law, June Brown and nieces; special cousin, Nancy Thomas; special friends, Rick and Vicky Smith and Pat Greene; and friends at the Handy Dandy Market; 3 special dogs, Beau, Max and Doody. Special thanks to the nursing staff of the Medical Critical Care Unit, 5th floor at UT Hospital. Family and friends will meet on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 9:30 am for a graveside service with full military honors at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Chuck Webb officiating.
