A devoted father, Pop, and master storyteller, LB was a proud son of coal mining country. He carried with him a treasure trove of stories from his youth—tales he generously shared with anyone willing to listen. Whether casting a line as a passionate fisherman, lost in the pages of a favorite book, or laughing with his grandchildren, LB lived a life rich in the simple joys of family and connection.
He retired from the State of Tennessee Department of Human Services, where he dedicated many years to serving and supporting others. His life was marked by kindness, wisdom, and a sense of humor that brought comfort and smiles to all who knew him. LB’s legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched and the memories he created with those he loved most.
LB was preceded in death by his father, Ben West; mother, Lula West; son, Benny West; and brothers, JW West and Howard West. He is survived by his son, Tim (Chris Day) West; daughter, Mitzi (Charlie Norris) McCurry; grandchildren, Colten, Dylan, and Shelby; and sisters, Mary Bevins and Delores (Terry) Sexton.
