Byrd, Lola Irene “Granny Byrd”, age 81, passed away peacefully at home Sunday morning, August 31, 2014. She was of the Baptist Faith, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother many times over. Preceded in death by parents, Frank and Pearl Caylor; husband of 66 years, Ernest “Red” Byrd; her oldest daughter, Cathy Sweat; sisters, Lib, and Mary Ann; and brothers, Charles and June. Survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Marty Byrd, Terry and Teresa Byrd; daughters and son-in-law, Robin and Leon Jones, Tammy Byrd, and Sharon Byrd; special son-in-law, Frank Sweat; and sister, Brenda. The family will receive friends at McCarty Evergreen Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 PM. The service will follow at 8:00 PM with Rev. Buster Gibson officiating. Family and friends will meet Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Eastview Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 AM graveside service.
