

Madge F. Mechling, age 89 of Powell, Tennessee passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Madge was known for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family. She was able to recognize the goodness in others when no one else could. She was born in Maryville, Tennessee and a graduate of Maryville High School and Baptist School of Nursing in Knoxville. Nursing was her calling and passion that allowed her to dedicate her life to helping others. She began her nursing career at Eastern State Mental Institution for a short time followed by Baptist Hospital for the remaining of her career. At Baptist Hospital she worked in Pediatrics for many years and spent the remaining time as a Wound Care/Ostomy nurse. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Powell.
She is preceded in death by her parents,Hattie and Harley Fife;the father of her children and former husband, Paul Levy; former husband, Bob Mechling; sisters,Sarah Riddle and Birdie Milligan. She is survived by her children, Paula Taylor (David), Jeff Levy (Kaye); grandchildren, Ben Taylor, Dylan Levy, Zach Taylor, Connor Levy; four great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Atchison and numerous family and friends who loved her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation www.t2t.org in memory of Madge. Family will receive friends March 3, 2025, from 5-7pm at Weaver’s Chapel with service to follow at 7pm. Family and friends will meet Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Lyons View Pike at 12:45 pm for a 1 pm interment. Condolences are welcome at www.weaverfuneralservices.com.
