

Martha Lynn Sexton, 80, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on Friday, January 9th after a courageous battle with ALS. Martha’s life was a testament to faith, love, and an unwavering commitment to family. A lifelong follower of Christ, Martha lived her days guided by grace, kindness, and a servant’s heart, always seeking to reflect God’s love in all she did and in every interaction she had with others.
She shared 63 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Dave. They shared a partnership rooted in faith, mutual respect, and enduring love. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, prayer, and steadfast devotion.
Martha was a proud and loving mother to two sons, who were the joy of her life. Her role as grammy brought her immeasurable happiness. She cherished every single moment spent with her family especially Christmas time when all of her grands would receive their “jammies from Grammy”.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. She found strength in prayer, comfort in Scripture, and joy in serving others. Those who knew Martha will remember her gentle spirit, generous heart, and the quiet strength with which she walked through life.
She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and family that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Lilburn and Eunice Julian; sister, Mary and brother Lib.
Martha is survived by her husband, Dave; her sons, David (Deanna) and Scott(Robin); her grandchildren, Garrett (Faith), Nick (Karsyn), Bryson, Brittany, and Chloe; and her great-grandchildren, Davie Ann and Easton. Brother Roland Julian and many family and friends.
Family and friends will gather to honor the life of Martha on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, with a visitation from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and a funeral service to follow at 7:00pm at Thorn Grove Baptist Church, 10200 Thorn Grove Pike, Knoxville, TN 37871, family and friends will gather for a committal service at Woodlawn Cemetery, 4500 Woodlawn Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920, on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 11:00am, Pastor Cary Mullen to officiate the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Thorn Grove Baptist Church Kitchen fund.
