

Mildred Bohanan, a cherished member of the Knoxville community, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on August 5, 1936, in Jefferson City, her life was a testament to love, faith, and generosity.
Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, fostering a deep connection with her church family at Riverview Baptist Church. Her unwavering faith and selfless spirit were evident in every aspect of her life. She was a woman who embodied the essence of kindness, always eager to extend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Mildred was not only a dedicated mother to her children, Sue, Edward, JoAnn and Sharon, but she was also a loving figure to many other children whom she raised with compassion and care. Her nurturing nature left an unforgettable mark on every child she embraced as her own, and she took immense pride in being a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother.
A lover of word searches and puzzles, Mildred’s mind was as sharp as her heart was kind. She delighted in the simple pleasures of life, often finding peace and contemplation in her favorite pastimes.
Preceded in death by her beloved, life-long husband James Bohanan; her brother Clarence; and her sisters Edna and Jean, she is survived by her sister Kathy, her children, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren who carry forward the values she instilled in them.
Mildred Bohanan was a beacon of light and love, and her memory will forever be a source of inspiration for her family and friends. Her legacy is one of love, warmth, and unwavering support, qualities that continue to inspire those who knew her. Mildred's life was a living testament to the power of selflessness and the impact of a heart devoted to others. Family will receive friends Wednesday, March 4, 2026 from 1:30 to 2:30 p. at Berry Highland South Funeral Home 9010 E. Simpson Road. Graveside will be conducted Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. with Adam Diggs officiating.
