Mary Lou Griffin

Mary Lou Griffin, 82, of Knoxville, passed away on December 5, 2015. She was a member of Meridian Baptist Church and a charter member of Cumberland Baptist Church. She was an avid UT Football fan, loved to travel and spend her winters in Florida. Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband, Ed; son, Larry; parents, Carl and Reba Mathis; brother, Jimmy. She is survived by her son, Wesley R. Griffin, and Sherry; daughter, Allison G. York, and Mike; granddaughters, Christina Griffin, and Josh, Chelsey Griffin, and Jonathan Davis, Alex York, and Caleb Melton, Kasey Hackworth, and Rocky; grandsons, Wesley E. Griffin, and Sarina Wilson, Lawrence (LJ) Griffin, Jr., Jeremy Harrell, and Kerrie Garner; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Brooklyn Griffin, Hadley and Jace Harrell; brother, Jerry Mathis; sister-in-law, Sarah Schmidt; nephews, Joe Mathis, Art Schmidt; niece, Lisa Phillips; special, lifelong friends, Doris Stokey and Donna Leavell. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to The American Cancer Society or Meridian Baptist Church.

Family will receive friends Monday, 5 -7 at Weaver Funeral Home; funeral service at 7 pm, Pastor Dana Fachman officiating. Family and friends will meet graveside at Lynnhurst cemetery, 12:45 pm Tuesday, for 1 pm interment services.
