Melissa "Missie" Renae Goodson

Melissa R. Goodson, or as most knew her Missie (Nae Nae), passed away on March 7th 2024, early in the morning, at Fort Sanders Medical Facility. She was born on October 1st 1967 and she went to be with her lord and savior Jesus Christ at the ripe age of 56.

She was preceded in death by her biological Mother Lela Kelley, her father John Kelley Jr. and her adoptive mother/sister Janelle Carver.

She is survived by her husband Tim Goodson, her son John Goodson, her two daughters, Casandralyn Goodson and Emily Goodson (Grant), her brother Buster Carver (Kathy), her sister Kelly Walters (Thomas), and her adoptive father/brother in law Eugene Caver Jr: as well as two grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Melissa was born and raised in south Knoxville, where she graduated from Doyle High School in 1985. She then went on to be a loving social worker for many years and followed that up by being a hardworking insurance broker until her disability took over in 2017. In her free time she enjoyed drawing, crocheting, antiquing, and sewing. She will be remembered for her over giving, and compassionate nature. She truly left her mark on everyone she crossed paths with.

A visitation for Melissa will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920. A graveside service will occur Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Island Home Baptist Church, 2323 Island Home Ave, Knoxville, TN 37920.
